After your lease has ended, Sprint still owns your phone. You'll continue to make payments month-to-month until you upgrade, purchase or return the phone to Sprint. These payments don't count towards your Purchase Price Option or Fair Market Value. You can:
Upgrade and return your phone:
If you are upgrading at a store, bring your phone with you.
If you are upgrading online or over the phone, we'll ship a return kit to you. Put your phone in the envelope provided and drop it in the mail.
Own your phone:*
Once your lease term is over and you are paying month-to-month, you can buy your leased phone by paying the Fair Market Value price.
Return your phone: You also have the option of returning your phone to Sprint at the end of your lease term.
*Purchase option is not available for customers who have a rent charge and live in DE, NJ, NY, ND, PA or PR.
Under a lease agreement, Sprint owns your phone. Sprint-owned phones must be returned in good working condition.
We inspect each phone that is returned to us for damage. You will be a charged a damaged device fee for the following issues:
Device not powering on and remaining on.
Damage to the screen such as cracks, chips or deep gouges.
The device has missing or broken parts (such as camera lens, buttons, etc.)
The battery is missing.
The activation locks have not been disabled (Find My iPhone and Android lock).
The device’s house is bent, has scratches, chips, dings, or gouges.
The device cannot have physical customizations or engravings.
If you returned your phone at a Sprint store, you'll be credited immediately.
If you send your phone back to us in a return kit, we'll credit this charge back to your account as soon as we get your phone at our warehouse and determine it is in good working condition.
Your lease payment will appear as a separate line item on your bill. Look for it under your phone number. It will have the name of your phone and the words lease charge next to the amount.
The lease agreement cannot be changed. Please see the terms and conditions of your lease agreement. You can, however, choose to pay off your lease early by making all remaining payments and paying the Purchase Price Option.
Depending on your credit, you may be required to pay a rent charge on your lease. This will be included in your monthly payment and noted on your lease agreement.
Some of Sprint's leases carry a rent charge, which is based on an applicant's credit. A rent charge is an amount paid by the customer for the right to lease a device for a set time period. If a customer is charged a rent charge, a portion of each scheduled monthly lease payment includes a rent charge. Currently, Sprint installment agreements do not have a finance charge.
If you are required to pay a rent charge, your lease agreement will show the total aggregate amount you will pay for the rent charge over the course of your lease term.
