You’ll know when you receive a text or email from us. If you’re surprised by the alert or have questions about your plan, we’re here to help.

Learning more about your plan

Sprint has flexible plans that allow you to choose the data you need each month. Once you’ve hit your monthly data allotment, we give you unlimited data at 2G speeds, so you’ll never have to worry about overages again, all on the Sprint network*. When your high-speed data is used, you can:

  • Continue to use data at lower 2G speeds on an unlimited basis for no cost, or
  • Purchase more high-speed data to tide you over for the rest of your bill cycle. You simply add more high-speed data as needed, for $15/1GB.

*While roaming in the U.S., your usage is limited to: 100MB of data; 800 voice minutes.

Sprint Better Choice: Comes with unlimited talk and text – your shared high-speed data comes in sizes ranging from 1GB to 40GB. You choose the amount of data that’s right for you.

Sprint Unlimited Plans: In addition to your unlimited high-speed data, talk and text, you get an allowance of high-speed mobile hotspot data each month. The amount you get depends on the plan you’re on.

Sprint Family Share Pack: Comes with unlimited talk and text – you get to choose the amount of high-speed data that’s right for you and your family. Your monthly high-speed data options range from 1 to 60GB.

Managing your high-speed data

Usage Alerts: If you’re the owner of your account, we’ll send you alerts through your Sprint Zone app and by text message when your usage reaches 75%, 90% and 100%. If you don’t have text selected as your Usage Alert notification preference, we’ll send you an email if one is available.

  • Let us know how you want to be notified:
    1. Go to sprint.com/preferences
    2. Click on the Notification settings link: Update email or text notifications
    3. Verify and/or update your Security & usage notification settings
  • If you choose text, the phone number entered must belong to someone on your account. The recipient is assumed to be the account owner with the ability to purchase and bill high-speed data to your account.
  • We’re unable to send text alerts to a Sprint account without a phone. Be sure to select email as your Security & usage notification setting if you only have a tablet, data card, Wi-Fi hotspot or modem on your account.

If you’re not the owner of your account, you’ll receive usage alerts through Sprint Zone. To ensure you’re in the loop on critical events that impact your data speeds, we’ll also send 100% usage and data purchase confirmations to you by text. Your messages will come to you in the language chosen by your account owner.

If you find yourself receiving frequent usage alerts, it may be time for a plan review. We recommend you go to sprint.com/planoptimizer to see if you’re on the right plan.

Data Control Panel: With the shared plans described above, you can give data purchasing control to any of your users. You can also divvy up your data amongst the users in your group. All this flexibility is available by signing in to your account at sprint.com/mysprint and clicking on the My data controls link in the My account device section. If you don’t see this link, you are not on an eligible plan.

Wi-Fi : All users can control high-speed data usage by using Wi-Fi whenever possible, particularly when downloading and streaming music and video.

Adding more high-speed data with Unlimited 2G plans

Adding more high-speed data is optional. If desired, you can add more when your Unlimited 2G kicks in after your plan’s high-speed data allowance is used. We’ll send you a 100% usage alert that gives you the opportunity to add more high-speed data (if authorized) by:

Here’s how:

  • Text message
    1. Reply as directed to the text we send you.
  • Sprint Zone
    1. Launch the Sprint Zone app on your smartphone. It must be version 5.3 or higher so be sure to update the app when prompted or set it to automatically update.
    2. Select Details from within usage summary section.
    3. Select Purchase Additional Data option from Individual or Shared Data
    4. Choose amount from available options; click Purchase; the purchase confirmation screen will appear.
  • Online at sprint.com
    1. Click the link in your email or go to sprint.com; Sign in to My Sprint.
    2. Select the link for My data controls to access data control panel.
      • When you use all your high-speed data, an alert icon and message will display on your data controls page along with links to Change plan and Add data.
    3. Click Add data; a new screen will display usage info with the ability to add 1 GB data.
    4. Click Buy to complete the purchase.
    5. Click Done to return to the control panel.
  • Online from your phone’s browser at m.sprint.com
    1. Sign in to your account on m.sprint.com
    2. Select the link for My data controls to access data control panel.
      • When you use all your high-speed data, an alert icon and message will display on your data controls page along with links to Change plan and Add data.
    3. Tap Add data; a new screen will display usage info with the ability to add 1 GB data.
    4. Tap Buy to complete the purchase.
    5. Tap Done to return to the control panel.

If you’re not the owner of your account, you can ask the owner to use their Data Control Panel on sprint.com to give you the ability to add data that will bill to their account.
