Switch your Samsung Galaxy Watch to a new Samsung Device

If you want to use a new Samsung device with your Samsung Galaxy Watch, you can transfer your Samsung Galaxy Watch and its contents to a new Samsung device.

  1. Update your old Samsung device 

    Before you switch your Samsung Galaxy Watch from your old Samsung device to a new Samsung device, update your old Samsung device to the latest software version.

    If you already erased your old Samsung device or no longer have it, you should erase your Samsung Galaxy Watch, then pair it with your new Samsung device. If you�re asked to restore from a watch backup, select the most recent backup. You will lose Activity, Workouts, or settings on your watch that changed between the last backup and now.

    Without an Samsung device backup, you�ll need to set up your Samsung Galaxy Watch as new. You will lose any previous Activity, Workouts, or settings, but your other content will sync from the new Samsung device to your Samsung Galaxy Watch.

  2. Back up and unpair your Samsung Galaxy Watch Active2 

    Unpairing backs up your Samsung Galaxy Watch Active2 to your old Samsung device, then erases your Samsung Galaxy Watch Active2, so you can pair it with your new Samsung device. You can't use your Samsung Galaxy Watch Active2 until you pair it again, so don't unpair until you're ready to start using your new Samsung device.

    1. To unpair your Samsung Galaxy Watch Active2, open the Settings menu in your Samsung Galaxy device.
    2. Tap Connections.
    3. Tap Bluetooth.
    4. Tap your watch under Paired Devices.
    5. Tap Unpair.
    6. Keep your Samsung Galaxy Watch Active2 and old Samsung device close together until you finish unpairing them.

  3. Back up your old Samsung device, then transfer your backup to your new Samsung device

    Use these steps to create a Backup of your old Samsung device, then transfer all your content to your new Samsung device.

  4. Pair your Samsung Galaxy Watch Active2 with your new Samsung device

    Use these steps to pair your Samsung Galaxy Watch with your new Samsung device. When you're asked, select Restore from Backup, then select the most recent backup to transfer your content back to your Samsung Galaxy Watch Active2.

    After you pair, check for updates to your Samsung Galaxy Watch.
