The evolution of mobile technology has brought us to our fifth generation of wireless technology. With 5G, Sprint will bring our customers blazing-fast, high-capacity mobile technology that will enable the next wave of mobile wireless innovation. To do this, Sprint will leverage our 2.5 GHz spectrum and we will deploy a radio technology called Massive MIMO, which is capable of delivering much greater capacity than current LTE systems. The combination of these tools will allow Sprint to offer significantly faster speeds, increased network capacity and an overall better experience than before for our wireless customers.

Sprint mobile 5G is going to create incredible new connections to people and things, services and opportunities that will allow our customers to live a better life.  Where available, mobile 5G users will have the potential for fiber-like download speeds in the palm of their hand to go and be connected to everything – people, machines, devices and more. Our lives – at home, at work, at play – will get faster. 

In addition, Sprint and gaming pioneer Hatch announced a collaboration that will provide a first-of-its kind mobile cloud gaming experience when Sprint launches 5G in select cities this spring. The faster speeds and great reliability will enable gamers to access a huge library of games and play instantly without waiting to download or update games.

Yes; check out our first 5G capable devices LG V50 ThinQ, Samsung Galaxy S10 5G and HTC 5G Hub to start experiencing our blazing fast speeds. A 5G capable Samsung phone is coming in the near future.

We expect faster download speeds (average and peak) than LTE initially (on capable devices). Performance will continue to improve as we optimize the 5G network and add new capabilities.

In addition to having a 5G device with Unlimited Premium in a 5G area, you must have Voice over LTE (“VoLTE”) enabled on your phone.

VoLTE is a simple toggle switch and will be set to “ON” as the default setting for 5G capable devices that become available. But in case it’s turned off, you can easily switch it back on by following the steps below.

Android Phones: Go to Settings > Connections or Network & internet > Voice Networks.  Set the VoLTE toggle to On.

iOS Phones:  Go to Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data Options > Enable LTE > Select Voice and Data

VoLTE (Voice over LTE) is the next generation of voice service for your phone. VoLTE will direct your voice calls over Sprint’s advanced LTE network instead of our traditional wireless voice network. VoLTE will provide superior voice quality and allow you to browse the Internet and use data-driven apps while on a call. VoLTE must be enabled on your device to experience our 5G network where available.

You will know by the 5G icon lit on the top bar of the screen next to LTE. If you don’t see that icon, you are most likely not in a 5G covered area. However, double check your settings to make sure VoLTE is enabled.
