Kosglow Finishes Eighth

Team Sprint snowboarder Lisa Kosglow finished eighth Friday in the women’s parallel giant slalom. She was one of eight competitors to advance to the quarterfinals, where she lost to Karine Ruby of France.

Ruby went on to take the silver medal behind gold medalist Isabelle Blanc, also of France.

The parallel giant slalom appeared at the Winter Games for the first time, replacing the two giant slalom events that were contested at the 1998 Winter Games in Nagano, Japan. After the qualification round, a 16-person final was established, and the snowboarders raced on two side-by-side courses until a winner was determined.

Kosglow was the only American to qualify for the 16-person finals.
