PARK CITY, UT (Aug. 15) - Organizers for Sprint Ultimate Airwave VI, a fun mix of individual
aerials competition and exhibition show jumping Aug. 23 at Utah Olympic Park, Friday confirmed Olympic
and World Championships gold medalist Alisa Camplin of Australia and Canadian Worlds medalist Steve
Omischl will be the first international skiers to compete in the annual event.
"This adds to the fun," said U.S. Aerials Head Coach Matt Christensen. "We'll have the top women's
aerialist and defending World Cup champion in Alisa while Steve was No. 2 in the World Cup standings
last winter. It'll be even more fun now."
A dwindling number of tickets remain available for the highly popular event, which starts at 4 p.m.
MDT (with gates opening at 2:30) at Utah Olympic Park. Seating is $14 for poolside seats with lawn
seating priced at $11; for information, contact www.smithtix.com
or call 1.800.888.TIXX.

First prize in the Airwave is $5,000 apiece for men and women with a total purse of $25,000.
Christensen said the U.S. team's third preseason training camp, currently underway at the park, was
planned to be a three-week lead-up to the Airwave. U.S. aerialists are moving back into some of their
hardest jumps, he said, "and this is a perfect way to end the camp. It's always been a good show and
adding Alisa and Steve will make it more competitive. That makes it good for the athletes and the
crowd."
U.S. aerialists will include 2002 Olympic and two-time World Championships medalist Joe Pack
(Park City); 1998 Olympic, 1999 Worlds and two-time World Cup champion Eric Bergoust (Missoula, MT);
two-time U.S. champion Ryan St. Onge (Steamboat Springs, CO); Jeret Peterson (Boise, ID); and Kate
Reed (Montrose, CO) - who was eighth in the World Championships and No. 8 in World Cup rankings a
year ago - and defending U.S. champion Christina Craddock (Newton, MA).
Christensen also said two former U.S. aerialists living in Park City - Brian Currutt and Jerry
Grossi - will come out of retirement to compete.
In addition, there will be a non-competitive exhibition of skiers, skateboarding, BMX riders and
others doing a variety of jumps into the splash pool at the park. There also will be skydivers, music
and, among other fun, competing dogs - from the recent Great Outdoor Games, canine members of dockdogs
performing as they dive into the pool while chasing an object into the water.
