Pack Takes Silver Medal

athlete and Park City, Utah, resident Joe Pack grabbed the silver
medal in men's aerials, proving that there's nothing like competing
in your own backyard.
Pack finished with a two-jump score of 251.64. Team Sprint athlete
Brian Currutt, who was competing in his first Winter Games competition,
finished sixth with a score of 245.19.
Ales Valenta of Czechoslovakia won the gold.
Despite a rocky start at the beginning of the 2001-2002 season,
Pack finished second in the 2001 overall aerial World Cup standings.
In addition to his Winter Games silver medal, Pack also captured
a bronze at the 2001 World Championships, six top-five finishes
in World Cup competition and was crowned the U.S. champion in 1999
and 2001.
