Sprint employees dedicate a significant amount of time and money to causes important to them, and the Sprint Foundation is proud to support employees’ personal commitments with additional funding for these causes. Sprint employees have the opportunity to participate in the Sprint Foundation Matching Gift and Dollars for Doers programs, each of which offers an additional financial benefit to organizations Sprint employees support. The Matching Gift program matches employees’ financial contribution and the Dollars for Doers program provides a grant to organizations where employees volunteer their time. Through these two programs, the Sprint Foundation has allowed thousands of employees to advance the causes and organizations they care about the most.
When Sprint employees, retirees or members of the Sprint Board of Directors make a contribution to an eligible organization, they can get that contribution doubled with a matched contribution from the Sprint Foundation.
The Matching Gift program underscores Sprint's commitment to improve the quality of life in communities where Sprint employees live and work. The Sprint Foundation matches contributions to educational institutions (K-12 and universities), arts and culture organizations, public-broadcasting stations, environmental organizations, positive youth-development organizations and the American Red Cross (for disasters in the United States). Individual gifts in any amount from $25 to $2,500 will be matched on a dollar-for-dollar basis. There is an annual maximum per donor (requesting employee, retiree or Board of Director member) of $5,000.
In 2012, the Sprint Foundation and 812 matching-gift donors contributed over $1 million to 535 organizations.
Sprint employees, retirees and Board of Directors members can access the Sprint Foundation Matching Gift program form and guidelines here. For questions about the Matching Gift program, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Volunteering is an important part of many Sprint employees’ lives. Sprint recognizes this and encourages employees to live up to their full volunteering potential with a world-class employee-volunteer program. To learn more about this program, please click here.
A fundamental component of Sprint’s volunteering program is Dollars for Doers. When a Sprint employee volunteers 40 hours during a calendar year to a qualified non–profit organization, the Sprint Foundation provides a $250 grant to that organization in the employee’s name. We know that our employees have many causes and issues that matter to them, which is why Dollars for Doers grants are provided to a wide range of organizations, even those that fall outside of the Sprint Foundation’s traditional philanthropic focus areas of education, arts and culture, youth development, and community development.
Launched in 2007, this program is gaining in popularity each year as our employees understand the value it brings to the causes they care about.
