Community Grant Programs

In addition to community and marketing sponsorships, non–profit organizations across the country have come to rely on grant and underwriting support from our philanthropic arm, the Sprint Foundation. The Sprint Foundation is a separate legal entity from Sprint, and as such, requests for Sprint Foundation support are handled separately from requests for Sprint sponsorships. You can learn more about the Sprint Foundation here.

Sprint Local Grant Program

Since 2009, Sprint has offered the Sprint Local Grant Program in the markets of Atlanta, Dallas/Fort Worth, Denver and New York City. Through the 2012 Sprint Local Grant Program, three local 501(c)3 organizations in each market are selected for Sprint Foundation grants (one each at $25,000, $15,000 and $10,000). Grants go to support programs that provide a meaningful impact in the Sprint philanthropic focus areas of youth development (including mentoring, leadership and academic achievement), arts and culture, and environmental stewardship.

The application period for the 2012 Local Giving Program is May 1 through June 15. The application process is handled online at the link below. Many organizations are expected to apply, and Sprint will narrow the list down to three finalists. All applicants will be notified of their final status by Sept. 28, 2012.

If chosen to be a finalist, an organization must then submit a three-minute video (recorded on a provided Sprint device) showcasing the program that will receive funding. Full instructions will be provided to finalists at the appropriate time; please do not submit video entries unless and until you receive direction from Sprint. Except where prohibited, all applicants grant to Sprint the right to use and publish their video submission, proper name, likeness, voice, opinion(s), and/or biographical information in any form of media used to promote Sponsor and/or the Contest, without receipt of additional compensation. Organizations that are chosen to receive a grant will be given more information about the video submittal process.

The Local Giving Program is available for non-profit organizations in the following metro areas: Atlanta, Dallas/Fort Worth, Denver and New York City. Click on each metro area to see eligible counties.

Sprint Community Champions Grant Program

From 2009 to 2011, Sprint offered the annual Sprint Community Champions Program in the markets of Atlanta, Dallas/Fort Worth, Denver and New York City. Through the Community Champions Program, the Sprint Foundation selected two local residents - one adult and one high-school student - who did an outstanding job in supporting and improving their community. The following Community Champions were recognized and honored with Sprint Foundation grants made in their names to local organizations of their choice.

For 2012, we are re-focusing our philanthropic support in these markets; though we will not offer the Community Champions Program this year, we are enhancing our Local Grant Program to increase the number of recipients and the total financial contribution, a change that we hope will provide even more benefit to the community.
