Type 2A - Tandem Interconnection

Back to Products & Solutions

Overview

Sprint's Type 2A Tandem Interconnection is a trunk-side connection to a Sprint tandem switch that uses either Multi-Frequency (MF) or Common Channel Signaling/Signaling System 7 (CCS/SS7) signaling and supervision. The Type 2A Tandem Interconnection provides access to the valid NXX codes with end offices subtending the tandem switch.

A direct interconnection with Sprint alleviates the need to gain access to billing records from other companies. Sprint keeps it simple for you because our National Wireless Access Center (NWAC) provides a single point of contact for ordering, provisioning and billing. And Sprint's Account Management team provides hands-on support to meet your needs.

Using Sprint's Type 2A Tandem Interconnection, you may:

  • Increase revenue through increased calling scope.

Product Details

Sprint's Type 2A Tandem Interconnection offers Commercial Mobile Radio Services (CMRS) carriers a trunk-side connection to a Sprint Tandem switch and provides access to the valid NXX codes associated with the tandem and all subtending end offices. The Type 2A interconnection can use either MF or CCS/SS7 signaling and supervision.

Using Sprint's Type 2A Tandem Interconnection, a CMRS service provider like you may establish a rate center for each NPA/NXX located within the tandem switch serving area where you are interconnected when the chosen rate center meets the following criteria:

  • It is a Sprint exchange.
  • It is served by the same access tandem switch. For Type 2A Tandem Interconnection, NPA/NXXs can be designed and implemented until the capability to assign partial NPA/NXX codes is available.

A Type 2A Tandem Interconnection cannot be used to reach Operator Services, 911/E911, or to carry 800 or 900 traffic.

Here is how it works:
