Program Audio

Back to Products & Solutions

Overview

Sprint's Program Audio opens up a new world for your end-user customers who are looking for a cost-effective, efficient, turnkey method of broadcasting events such as high school football games, business seminars or church services. Whether the need is ongoing or for just 24 hours, high-quality audio transmission of events and activities has never been easier.

Sprint's Program Audio is a channel measured in Hertz (Hz) for the transmission of complex signal voltage. Multiple bandwidths are available for one-way transmission. The actual bandwidth is a function of the channel interface selected by the customer; the greater the bandwidth, the greater the broadcast's reach.

With Sprint's Program Audio, you may:

  • Offer daily and monthly rates, enhancing your ability to attract customers with varying Program Audio needs and budgets.
  • Access a variety of bandwidths and features that let you tailor your Program Audio service to suit your customers' specific needs.

Features & Benefits

  • Multiple bandwidths - allow your customers to select the dedicated bandwidth that best meets their individual broadcasting needs for range and sound clarity. Multiple bandwidths also give you the opportunity to offer the Sprint Program Audio service to a broader range of prospective customers.
  • Availability of daily and monthly rates - simplifies pricing for customers. Delivers a cost-effective option that puts Sprint's Program Audio service within reach of your customers needing short-term service, while offering pricing advantages for customers with ongoing needs.
  • Dedicated connection to other customer locations - avoids "minutes-of-use" charges by allowing customers to pay for the specific services they use.

Product Details

Sprint's Program Audio service provides you with a complex signal voltage for the broadcast of speech or music.

Program Audio can be broadcast on either AM or FM frequencies. The variety of bandwidth options means a dedicated, crystal-clear signal with no overlap for your Program Audio customers, and the opportunity for you to sell broadcasts on different bandwidths to prospective customers with different needs. The bandwidth selection determines the range and clarity of the signal.

Typical Program Audio service levels include, but are not limited to:

  • 1000 - 3500 Hz - voice quality (no music); available on AM or FM
  • 500 - 8000 Hz - AM stereo-quality
  • 250 - 15000 Hz, 50 - 20000 Hz - music application; FM stereo-quality broadcast

Given this bandwidth selection, and the Central Office Bridging Capability and Gain Conditioning options (outlined below), your customers enjoy the ultimate in Program Audio flexibility. End users can choose the right combination of bandwidth and features to fit both their broadcast objectives and their budget.

  • Central Office Bridging Capability - provides the option for the parallel connection of one virtual circuit to another virtual circuit without interrupting the integrity or continuity of the first.
  • Gain Conditioning - gives your customers an available option on volume control for their broadcast signal.

Program Audio is provided by CLECs between an Interexchange Carrier's Point of Termination (IC-POT) and an end user's POT, or between a POT of the same or different end users. These one-way services are available on a full-time or part-time basis, depending on the needs of the end user.

All Program Audio services are terminated on a two-wire basis (tip and ring conductors), except when an IC-POT provides a through-facility interface or a pulse-code modulation encoded interface.

Sprint's circuit consists of an RF-shielded wide-band audio amplifier/filter assembly at the CLEC's premises for loop qualification and specially manufactured Program Audio channel units for use in the central office on an inter-office T-1 transport system for inter-office applications.

End users who select Program Audio for closed-circuit broadcasts do not need a license from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). If this service is used for an over-the-airways broadcast, an FCC license would be required.

If they have the appropriate premise equipment, end users can record their programs and then broadcast them at a later time via Program Audio.

Sprint's Program Audio is available at daily and monthly rates, making it possible for you to attract customers with both short-term needs (such as broadcasting a one-day local business seminar), as well as those needing ongoing access to bandwidth for a variety of events and activities.

Program Audio is available in all of Sprint's Local Telecommunications Division (LTD) territories.
