Sprint's Digital Data Service (DDS) provides an alternative to switched digital service. DDS is a dedicated link between two or more sites and offers flexibility in bandwidth. It can accommodate a wide variety of voice, data, video and interactive applications. Any service provider and end-user customer with a need for low speed, high accuracy and guaranteed availability will benefit from DDS.
A Digital Data Access channel is a channel for a duplex four-wire transmission of 2.4, 4.8, 9.6, 19.2, 38.4, 56 or 64 Kbps. You select the actual bit rate by choosing which protocol combination is used. The channel provides synchronous service with timing provided through your facilities to your end-user customer in the received bit stream.
Digital transmission provides more accurate signals than analog, primarily because of signal regeneration. Data Amplification provides for data transmission when your end-user customer is located beyond the normal range of 42-decibel (dB) loss for digital data service (56.0 kbps and 64.0 kbps). The dB loss is determined by the route, length and gauge of the cable from the last signaling point (usually the switching office) to your end-user customer's premises.
Optional DDS features and functions include Central Office Bridging, Secondary Channel and Data Amplification.
