Can I keep my phone when I switch to T-Mobile?

Yes, but first, check your phone’s compatibility with the T-Mobile network. If you have questions, please call us at 1-800-T-MOBILE or visit your nearest T-Mobile store.

Can I switch to T-Mobile but keep the phone number I already have from another carrier?

Yes, it is possible to keep the number you already have from another wireless or landline carrier. First, check if your existing number is eligible for transfer to T-Mobile. If it is, simply follow the on-screen instructions displayed during check-out to authorize the transfer. We'll do the rest. In rare circumstances, we are unable to transfer a number to our network—usually because we don't have a transfer agreement with the original service provider. Be sure to keep your old phone and old account until your number is fully activated on your new T-Mobile account for seamless service. If you are interested in a prepaid phone and transferring your number to T-Mobilevisit your nearest T-Mobile store.

Can I join T-Mobile at any store location or online?

You can get started online anytime, find a store near you, or call us 1-800-T-MOBILE.

Does T-Mobile require a long-term service contract?

No. T-Mobile doesn’t lock you into an annual service contract. We want to be the company you want to be with, not the one you’re stuck with.

How do I know if I'll have coverage in my area?

Can I trade in my old phone for a new one when I switch to T-Mobile?

You can trade in your old, working phone or device for credit toward a new purchase with T-Mobile's Device Trade-In Program. It is not required that your trade-in device was purchased from T-Mobile. When you activate your T-Mobile account, you can apply that trade-in credit to your bill. To get started, go to Phone Trade-In and follow the on-screen instructions.

What is Go Back Guarantee?

This is a limited offer where if you switch to T-Mobile and don’t love us, you can switch back to your previous carrier within 30 days of line activation and get a $125 rebate for each eligible line. To become eligible, you must activate a new account with at least one new voice line and bring your number (port-in) from a participating carrier (AT&T, Verizon, Spectrum, Claro [Puerto Rico], Liberty Wireless, Xfinity, and UScellular). Your T-Mobile account must also be in good standing.

Contact us prior to switching back to request payout. Complete the switch within 30 days of your account activation, and you’ll receive a $125 virtual prepaid Mastercard® (no cash access; expires in six months) for each eligible line, up to 12 lines.
