Community Commitment

Community engagement is embedded in Sprint's culture. Throughout its long history, the corporation has passionately supported both local and national efforts to improve the communities where Sprint employees and customers live and work. Sprint's goal is to invest its philanthropic resources in the areas most meaningful and relevant for its business, customers, and employees as efficiently and effectively as possible.

Sprint has an extensive community-relations program including volunteerism, local community advisory councils, an in-kind donation and loan programs, the philanthropic Sprint Foundation, and national community partnerships.

Sprint's community investment is focused in Kansas City; Washington DC; Atlanta; Dallas; New York City; Chicago; Denver; and Los Angeles, but occasionally provides support for other communities when unique situations that tie together our business, customers and employees are presented.

In addition to these geographic targets, Sprint also focuses on particular social issues and giving categories. Sprint's national partnerships are focused on K-12 public education -- particularly character education and safety in our nation's schools -- and diversity. Local and regional investments support these areas as well as arts and culture and youth development.

Foundation Grants

The Sprint Foundation accepts grant requests from January through November each year. Grants for national partnerships are limited to those addressing K-12 Character Education, Safety in Schools and Diversity. Regional and Local grants focus on those areas as well as K-12 education more broadly, youth development, and arts & culture. Recipient organizations must be tax exempt and tax deductible, have auditable financial results and comply with all necessary laws regarding registration and reporting. Ineligible requests include those for political or religious organizations, individuals, international organizations and private charities or foundations. A more complete listing is provided in the Sprint Foundation section of the Sprint.com website. Generally grants are provided for specific program support not for operating expenses or events.

In-Kind Donations

Sprint occasionally has non-cash assets available for donation such as calling cards, office supplies, used desktop computers, television sets, office furniture, fax machines and printers. These items come in on an irregular basis, but are often available for donation. If your 501c3 organization (or K-12 school) has a need for any of these types of items please submit a request. They will be filled based on the organizations fit within our philanthropic focus areas and availability. Desktop computers are only available for K-12 education institutions and must be for a minimum of 10. The computers are generally at least three years old and do not have any software or operating systems loaded. Sprint will generally not incur any shipping costs to deliver the items, so the recipient organization must be able to make pick-up arrangements.
