Sprint recognizes that it has an impact on the communities in which it does business, as well as on the environment as a whole. As part of our citizenship efforts, we are committed to taking steps to make a measurable difference in this arena. In recent years Sprint has been recognized for its green building practices, purchases of renewable energy, alternative energy testing, and strong cell-phone recycling programs.

We intend to expand upon each of these initiatives as well as identify new opportunities to improve our environmental sustainability. Sprint became an EPA Climate Leader Partner in 2007 and expects to set an aggressive greenhouse gas emissions reduction target in 2008. One strategy for reducing our greenhouse gas emissions will be increasing our use of alternative energy sources such as wind, solar, and hydrogen fuel cells. Sprint is working to stimulate the development of these non-fossil fuel-based sources and expects them to be a significant portion of our energy portfolio within the next few years.
