Sprint’s Operational Headquarters in Overland Park, Kan., has received a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). LEED Certification is a nationally accepted program for the design, construction and operation of high-performance green buildings. In constructing the facility Sprint implemented practices to ensure future construction will have minimal environmental impacts.

Some of the eco-friendly features highlights of the 300-acre Overland Park, Kan., campus include:

Capture of site run-off water to use for landscape irrigation
Restoration of wetlands and natural landscape
Plantings of more than 6,000 trees; use of landscaping for shade
Dedication of 60 percent of the campus to green space
Regional extraction of 81 percent of campus construction materials, reducing transportation emissions;
Use of PETA-certified border collie program for migratory bird control;
Provision of bicycles near campus buildings for employee use on campus.
